TRUSTS & WILLS

You work a lifetime at accumulating assets, personal property and mementos. It only takes a little time to make sure those valued items pass on to your loved ones. Whether you are a young family, planning for your retirement, or seeking to get your affairs in order for your loved ones, we will provide appropriate and cost-effective solutions based on your individual and business needs. We will work with you to maximize your assets in a way that provides you with peace of mind for your family.

Depending on your situation, a Revocable or Irrevocable Trust may be more appropriate. A trust, like a will, is a legal document that includes instructions regarding what should be done with your assets when you die. The key difference between the two is that a trust prevents the assets from being probated (tied up in the court system) at your death - a will does not. There are lots of issues to consider when deciding if a will or a trust is right for you. We will assess your individual situation and help you understand your options based on current laws and which estate planning documents will help to achieve your goal of distributing your assets.

POWERS OF ATTORNEY

Powers of attorney for health care and property/financial decisions are a relatively low cost way to decide which family member or trusted friend will have the legal authority to carry out your wishes, if you can no longer speak or act for yourself. If you do not have a power of attorney, or if your powers of attorney are not drafted properly and something happens that results in your inability to make decisions, your loved ones may later face costly court proceedings and court-supervised guardianship and/or conservatorship.

Your loved one needs a power of attorney that allows their agent to be able to take very special actions to protect them and their loved ones. They need powerful documents, which authorize their loved ones to change the way your assets are held so as to provide the best protection for them and their healthy spouse when they inevitably need long term care.

FAMILY LAW

There are times when the best solution is divorce. This may be a relief for some, yet devastating to others. No matter what your family law issue is, or the range of emotions tied to it we can help you resolve it and move to the next stage of your life.  We provide all aspects of family law counsel in matters such as divorce, annulment, separation, child custody, prenuptial agreements, visitation, alimony and spousal support (maintenance), domestic abuse, restraining orders, modification and enforcement, parental alienation, fathers' rights and paternity.  Call and make an appointment for a consultation.

TRAFFIC MATTERS

Traffic violations may result in hefty fines, increased insurance premiums and the suspension of your driver’s license. If you hold a commercial driver’s license (CDL), a citation for a moving violation could cost you your job, even if you were driving your own vehicle at the time. Also, certain occupations require a clean driving record, even if you are not required to hold a CDL. Whether you are a resident of Missouri, or a visitor who received a ticket while passing through our state, we will save you time, money, and protect your driving record.
